Trilogy goes to the 26th Annual Gingerbread Village

Samantha Hatate, the Activities Coordinator took seven Members and bussed into Seattle to visit the 26th Annual Gingerbread Village at the Sheraton and the Fairmont Seattle Festival of Trees. The Gingerbread Village, which benefits JDRF, moved back to its original location in the Sheraton this year and the Members right up to the Village with no line. This year’s theme is Whoville and the Members loved different architects’ and bakers’ takes on the classic movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, including a moving sled, a Whoville feast, the Grinch stuck in a chimney, and more.

The group then walked three blocks to the Fairmont Seattle Festival of Trees where they met up with a Trilogy Member who is involved as a Chair on the Seattle Festival of Trees Guild. She generously led our group through the display of trees (including the tree she designed), The Georgian Room, the Teddy Bear Suite, and even a Child-Sized Gingerbread House as she gave a festival history lesson and explained how the festival helps with uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Seattle Children’s Autism Center.

While some Members shopped and ate lunch nearby, the rest of the Members ate lunch at the hotel restaurant Shucker’s before returning to Trilogy. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon Holiday outing!
